Wednesday Morning Run Down

We launched PastorMark.tv—I’m really impressed by the team I get to work with.

I spent Wednesday and Thursday in Anderson, South Carolina. Take-aways:

  • You can never underestimate the power of hospitality. Southern hospitality was amazing. At the hotel the front desk lady offered to drive a package to the UPS store, at the church I was at they had a volunteer who was with me the whole day and took care of everything I could have needed, and the film crew at New Spring dropped everything to print up a DVD of a talk I asked them for after a busy day of shooting. These folks are amazing.
  • Josh Blankenship is not only one of my favorite designers on the planet, he’s also a brilliant design manager, and a guy who I wish I could hang out with more. I learned a ton from him and Suzanne Swift—they are running a very well oiled creative team.
  • Well managed teams are way more effective than a group of geniuses who don’t work together. Suzanne has built a team ethos that is quite remarkable.
  • Volunteers are so important. New Spring had the BEST VOLUNTEER TEAM I’ve ever seen.
  • Getting upgraded to first class is a rare gift.
  • The project I’ve been working on called “campaigns” is going to go crazy. Well over 100 pastors were ready to sign up on the spot if we were ready to launch.

Been on the road a lot, but it’s so much better to be at home with my ladies. Violet keeps getting cuter every day (in my objective opinion):

The Lead Pastor at Mar Hill, Jamie Munson, stepped down. We all love him and support his new ventures. Now that he’s gone the Mars Hill team is working on a plan for filling some large shoes—this means I’ll likely have more responsibility that I’ll share with you soon enough.
