
Some managers make the mistake of only looking at the bottom line. They are happy so long as numbers are met, this can work for a while—but soon it will backfire.
The same mistake as depression era farmers
In the early 1900’s farmers had spread out over much of the American grasslands and they farmed like crazy. They focused specifically on crop yield—planting the same crop on the same field year after year… until they killed the soil.
The farmers took the soil for granted. They just assumed that God put it there to do it’s job.
They took all of the nutrients out of the soil and turned their once thriving farm into a giant dust bowl. They focused only on the bottom line, and didn’t take the time and attention to steward their soil.
Managers should take note
You may be getting results from your business, your ministry, or your family by focusing primarily on the results. Long term results are the by product of stewarding each part of your responsibilities well.
